Rio de Janeiro is a wonderful city of about 12000000 people and its located in the south of Brazil. There are so many people that visit it each year. Because of the great places that are there, this city is a good destination for vacations. Rio de Janeiro was discovered by the portugueses and is one of the most populated cities in brazil. Its climate is tropical. People taht was born there, are called "cariocas". They are friendly people and their official language is portuguese. Cariocas say that Rio de Janeiro is the second major city of Brazil, behind Sao Paulo. Some places in Rio de Janeiro are visited each year by the tourists. It is famous for its spectacular natural setting, its carnival celebrations, tourist beaches such as Copacabana an Ipanema, and other places. Nevertheless, the most popular places are corcovado and pan de azucar mountain. Corcovado is a big mountain and people climb it by train. When you get to the top of the mountain, you can see the cristo redentor, a giant statue of Jesus. This place is one of the eight marvels of the world. Pan de azucar mountain is a place where yo can see the view of all the city. People climb there by cable car. Is an amazing experience to be there. Furthermore, Rio de Janeiro has another beutiful places, like the cathedral and maracana stadium, one of the world's largest football stadiums. Also, a famous celebration is the carnival of Rio de Janeiro, celebrated two weeks before the traditional fasting of lent. Cariocas have an special place to do this carnival known as the sambodromo where peolple create a juge parade. Finally, if you decide to visit Rio de Janeiro, you will prove that this city is one of the most big a beautiful cities in South America. Tourist say that is an unbelievable experience to be there, because of its peolple, its celebrations and its pleasant places. Definitely is an incredible city.
